In this time of uncertainty, music education programs have the unique power to serve as an outlet for creative expression, provide connection and a sense of belonging in a safe space, and give purpose as students focus on a shared musical goal. GreenSpring Foundation (formerly the HARPS Foundation) offers world class music education including individual instruction, immersive summer programs and ensembles through our Hybrid Music Education Program, developed in response to the pandemic. Our ensembles include the Grammy-considered American Youth Harp Ensemble, award-winning Virginia Choristers and GreenSpring Chamber Ensembles/Orchestra.
Our Outreach Programs serve students from diverse backgrounds, with limited access, and/or disability by making a space for them within the world of classical music education. By creating a inclusive space where students feel represented, supported and cared for, we provide an environment which nurtures creative expression, musical excellence and leadership development. In response to COVID, we have developed an instrument loan program that provides access to instruments free of charge to low-income students and an innovative curriculum in collaboration with expert educators from around the globe.
Our mission is to develop programs and performance opportunities for all children and youth, regardless of financial means or disability, utilizing music as a catalyst for personal growth, community service, and social change in order to create a more beautiful, just & equitable world through music.
